But how does a 30kw inverter "start" a 40hp pump? It can't.

Also by the time the OP purchases the 39kw of panels and 3 phase inverter he would be spending over $100,000. He could have installed a diesel gen set and very large fuel tank to get his water and saved $70,000.

30kw inverter can run the 40hp pump ,pls note it is 40HP ,not 40kw , inverter can >= pump power , it have been install in project ,work good , of coz ,you can install bigger inverter ,serive life can be longer

as i know , the 39kw pump and inverter the spend is about $20000-26000

39kw of panels even at $0.70/watt comes to $27300 by itself. You then have to purchase the inverter, panel racking, wiring, overcurrent protection, etc.

That 40 hp motor will draw over 100amps at 230volt and 6 to 8 times that 100amps when it starts. What 3 phase 30kw inverter can do that?

Why not just buy a diesel pump to pump that water, that would be cheaper yet and more efficient.

Correct. That is what I have been trying to explain. Using solar to run a large 3 phase horsepower motor is insane when there are other options which cost less.
