So why are you interested in audience development?
SeaChange Arts organise the annual Out There International Festival of Circus and Street Arts, which takes place in Great Yarmouth, UK and attracts in excess of 60,000 people to the event each year. We organise the Out There Festival with the aim of producing an event of the highest quality that not only attracts the best performers, producers and professionals from the worldwide Street Arts and Circus sector, but that is also fully accessible to everyone, from the local community to further afield. Now in its 6th year, the Out There Festival is developing a national and internationl profile which results in attracting audiences from all over the world. We are always looking to reach more people, whilst being committed to challenging and developing the loyal audience following that the festival now has.
Great Yarmouth based but collaborating internationally, SeaChange are an independent arts development charity.

We are dedicated to delivering outstanding Circus and Street Arts events.  Working as the arts development and promotion agency for Great Yarmouth Borough Council, we also run creative projects of many kinds.

Our focus on Circus and Street Arts grows naturally from this seaside town's rich performance heritage and provides us with an accessible medium for all kinds of projects, interventions and activities that help us:

  • Strengthen relations with internationally diverse communities
  • Support artists and performers to develop work of the highest caliber
  • Develop collaborative, ambitious partnerships to deliver new events and productions
  • Build a creative workforce to support the development of street arts and circus
  • Engage and support creative collaboration between local communities and professional artists to develop new work of the highest quality

Throughout the year, we work with communities, schools, producers, artists, festivals, and local and international partners on a number of projects, sometimes intimate, sometimes immense - but always inspirational!

Much of this work is showcased each year at the Out There Festival.  Produced by SeaChange, Out There is now the region's largest free festival of street arts and circus and regularly attracts audiences in excess of 60,000 people.

As a registered charity, we rely on grants, donations and sponsors to fund our projects and events.

SeaChange Arts'  new 9000 sqft creation space in the historic Drill Hall opened this year. The building will become a Centre of Excellence for Circus and Street Arts, and will be used for artistic training and residencies, as well as a base for the SeaChange Arts team. The Drill Hall will become a hub for the research, development, creation and rehearsal of new and innovative work for Circus and Street Arts companies, as well as a providing an important new space for cultural production and co-creation, critical administration, rehearsal space for the soon-to-open St George's Theatre, and a new centre dedicated to continuing SeaChange Arts' mission to widen access to culture and increase participation.
